Not this time, but it's very simple to put together a personalized sampler with their 4 meat meal option!
.
Vibe?
I really enjoy the small town/local feel of this Cottleville BBQ joint. From the street they're located on, to the surrounding buildings, to the patio, to the decor, it has such an awesome feel to it. It feels like a place you want to walk to each week, eat, relax, and sit around reminiscing. Absolutely love it!
Order?
For this visit I went with the 4 meat combo and chose brisket, ribs, chicken, and pork for my main event.
For sides we got mac & cheese, fries, and the cornbread corn.
Pricing?
.
Normal range for St. Louis BBQ, very reasonable. They have a great lunch special - a sandwich, 1 side, and a drink for just $13.98!
.
Sauces?
.
Sweet, Spicy, Mustard, White Sauce
.
I thought the 3 sauces I tried were delectable flavors that complimented their meats very well!
.
Side note (nothing anyone did wrong here)...I don't do white BBQ sauce, it's just not my thing. But if you enjoy that style of sauce, I can tell you the friend I had with me for this visit thought the 1798 white sauce was very good!
.
Feels like a little deja vu, but I enjoyed their mustard sauce more than I expected to. There was a real "BBQ" flavor to it that I appreciate that in a mustard sauce. I may be turning into a big mustard BBQ sauce fan! The sweet and spicy sauces were also great flavors for me as well!

Stop in if you're looking for...
.
A comfortable and inviting small town feel, delicious meats and sides, and an atmosphere that makes you want to keep supporting local every. single. day! And if you're big on BBQ chicken, you will absolutely love the chicken at 1798.

Danny's Take:
.
1798 BBQ us an all-around awesome BBQ restaurant!
The pulled pork is great, exactly what you want in terms of taste and tenderness. Their brisket is even better in my opinion. I LOVE the bark flavor and the smoke is just the right balance to the flavors of the rub and the meat itself. The ribs are tasty and tender, and I definitely didn't need sauce to enjoy them. I like BBQ chicken, but I'm normally a brisket/pork guy. That said, I want to draw attention to the chicken at 1798. Their chicken flavor is phenomenal to me! I just love the balance of rub, smoke, and color. So often you get BBQ chicken that either has no smoke flavor, or gummy skin, or it's just drowned in sauce. Not at 1798. The mouth watering meld of rub, smoke, and proper emps through the cook (done but not dry) was flawless to me. I love all the meats I've had there, but for anyone who loves BBQ chicken you HAVE to check out 1798!
1798 also has an excellent lineup of BBQ sides! The mac & cheese was good, fries were good too, but for me the cornbread corn really hit the spot! It's a yummy, sweet, savory flavor profile that pairs perfectly with any smoked meat.
