BONUS BLOG - Story Time!

You may wonder why I didn’t go with the much more common title of “All Purpose Seasoning” for our most versatile spice rub. Well, I chose the name “Every Purpose Seasoning” 1. Because it is meant to go well with anything you might spice up with a rub or seasoning, and 2. Because my father’s initials happen to be EPS, and I wanted to pay homage to the man who lives out the fatherly example that I try to emulate each day. I can only hope to be half the father he has always been. He’s the reason for my entrepreneurial spirit, and this was my way of immortalizing his legacy with my own unique creation.

When I was a young kid, dad worked for a local carpentry company that helped to build certain updated features of the old Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1966-2005. Dad specifically built many of the concession condiment bars mounted around the stadium. I remember vividly, every time we went to a game dad would find one that he built and he’d have us crouch underneath to see the proof: his initials “EPS” sprawled in the corner. That’s one of my childhood memories that always stuck with me. The kind of memory you hope you can give to your own kids to look back on one day. With any luck my own son will look back when he’s older and remember watching his dad start a business with the seasoning we created together, for him.

When they tore down old Busch in 2005, dad unfortunately wasn’t able to get ahold of one of those condiment bars to hang onto as a keepsake. Well, as I told him the day my first set of labels came in, I’ve found a new way for his initials to live on in infamy. And now, the look on his face that day will stay with me forever 😊
